A unique opportunity exists for an educator experienced in intensive care to provide education and professional development. 
 
Northern Beaches Hospital is a fully licensed private hospital, providing care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors and staff.  The Intensive Care Unit has 20 beds in total, providing high dependency & intensive care services & are equipped to provide advanced & highly specialised care & close monitoring of critically ill adult patients. 
 
Specialised care provided includes: General Medical, General Surgical, Pre & Post Cardiothoracic Surgery, Complex Neurosurgery & Vascular surgery, Complex multi-system failure & who may require life support for an extended period, mechanical ventiliation, intra-arterial pressure monitoring, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Continuous Cardiac Output monitoring, Intra-Cranial Pressure Monitoring, ECMO and CRRT. The service provides all aspects of invasive monitoring & support.  The unit consists of single rooms, including 2 negative pressure isolation rooms.
 
As the Educator you will play a key role in ensuring the planning, development and teaching of nursing education in the Intensive Care Unit are well thought out and executed.
 
 
You will: 
  • plan, develop and deliver nursing education programs within the ICU
  • coordinate and provide hands on educational support and clinical teaching to ICU staff, graduate nurses & students
  • provide expert clinical education and leadership, expert advice and support to all staff of the department
  • promote a high standard of evidence based nursing care through dissemination of best practice knowledge
  • supervise mandatory training and completion of eLearning
  • coordinate delivery of mandatory training including delivering basic life support and manual handling training
  • ensure best practice competency based programs are available and assessment of staff competencies  

 

You will bring to our high-performing team:
  • Current registration as a Nurse with AHPRA
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent
  • Certificate IV workplace training and Assessment (TAE) (or working towards)
  • Post Graduate nursing qualifications in critical care
  • Minimum of 4 years in area of clinical practice
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Advanced life support certification
  • Able to influence nursing and hospital practice to achieve excellent clinical outcomes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High degree of computer literacy including Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience in the private healthcare system will be well regarded
