The aim of the Graduate Nurse Program at Prince of Wales Private Hospital is to provide a year of consolidation of clinical skills in a supportive and caring environment.

 

 At Prince of Wales Private we offer:

  • One year program
  • Two x 6 month rotations
  • Opportunity to indicate clinical rotation preference
  • Full Time and Part Time positions available

Rotations Offered Include:

 

General Wards Rotation

  • Surgical wards
  • Coronary care unit / Cardiothoracic surgery
  • Day of surgery suite
  • Recovery

Direct entry to Operating Theatres

  • Scrub / scout
  • Anaesthetics

Direct entry to Critical Care Services

  • Coronary care unit
  • Intensive care unit

About Prince of Wales Private Hospital: 

 

One of Sydney's leading private hospitals, located in the heart of Randwick. We share a campus with Prince of Wales Public Hospital, Sydney Children's Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Women. This co-location provides a unique opportunity for collaborative treatment programs and advanced medical and surgical care.

 

Our hospital has 168 in-patient beds plus 20 day beds specialising in cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, colorectal, urology, gynaecology, maternity services, paediatrics, ENT, vascular, oncology, general surgery and intensive care.

 

Prince of Wales Private provides a positive, supportive learning environment that is committed to ensuring the successful transition to the clinical setting for graduate nurses.

Selection Criteria: 

  • Eligibility for registration as a nurse with the Nurses and Midwives board (AHPRA)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
  • Graduate within July 2018 - February 2019
  • Ability to undertake full time or part time employment
  • High-level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Works well within a team
  • Overseas students must have documented proof of English Language skills testing (IELTS or OET test)
  • Australian citizenship / residency or a visa which permits employment in Australia

How to Apply:

  • Address a one page cover letter to Vanessa Brennan stating why you want to work at Prince of Wales Private Hospital
  • Include a brief CV of no more than 3 pages with at least two professional references included
  • Provide most recent academic transcript with result legend
  • Include two relevant (acute surgical or peri-operative) university clinical appraisals completed by you & your facilitator at clinical placements (please contact us if you are unsure of this)
