  • Senior Neuropsychologist
  • Grade 3, 0.4 EFT
  • Maternity leave position July 2018 – February 2019
 
A Grade 3 Clinical Neuropsychologist is sought for a maternity leave position 2 day per week at The Melbourne Clinic, Richmond, Victoria. The successful applicant will work within the Living Well Program which offers assessment, and group and individual therapy to inpatients across the general, aged and young persons’ programs.  A Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology, registration with AHPRA and Clinical Neuropsychology endorsement are essential. Experience and/or a strong interest in mental health and psychiatric disorders is preferred. Applicants must have registration as a supervisor. Membership of the Australian Psychological Society is also desirable.
 
Neurocognitive assessments are primarily diagnostic in nature, or used to clarify strengths and weaknesses to assist with treatment/recovery planning. In addition to mental health conditions a wide variety of co-occurring neurological conditions are commonly assessed for, including dementia, alcohol/drug related cognitive impairment, developmental disorders, and ABI (e.g. BI, stroke, hydrocephalus). Neuropsychology focused groups are run across programs, including Aged Psychiatry, PSTD and General Inpatients.     
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide operational leadership within the neuropsychology service: triaging and managing referrals, assisting with service and group development
  • Supervision of Grade 2 Neuropsychologists and provisional psychologists on student placement supervision of psychologists as per any subsequent endorsements
  • Provision of clinical neuropsychology services to people with a wide range of psychiatric, neurological and developmental conditions. This includes neuropsychological assessments, report writing, client/family/referrer feedback, recommendations and treatment planning
  • Facilitate group therapy and information sessions with a neuropsychological focus, including groups on memory, healthy brains and aging, sleep and relaxation and ADHD
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of policies and programs as appropriate.
 
The Melbourne Clinic offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of mental health conditions.  Inpatient programs offered at The Melbourne Clinic include the Professorial Mood Disorders Unit (associated with The University of Melbourne), Anxiety and Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Eating Disorders, Substance Withdrawal / Rehabilitation, Older Persons’ Psychiatry, Young Persons’ Psychiatry and Intensive Psychiatric Care. A Community Outreach Program and a wide range of Day Programs are also available to support people in the community.
 
 
Selection Criteria:
  • Appropriate qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychology (i.e. Masters or DPsych)
  • Registration with AHPRA, and endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology
  • Registration as a supervisor
  • Leadership and mentoring skills
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
