An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Mental Health Clinician with tertiary qualifications in appropriate disciplines (Occupational Therapy, Social Work, and Clinical Psychology) to join the Day Program therapy team. The Day Program therapy team offers evidence-based therapy treatment programs for people with a range of psychiatric conditions.
It has one of the one of the longest standing DBT Programs within Victoria and is known for its cutting edge approach to psychiatry.  We are seeking a highly skilled mental health clinician to coordinate our intake and enhance continuum of care between inpatient and outpatient settings.  The successful applicant will reap the professional benefits of enhancing their coordination skills, program promotion and development and be supported within a large team that is passionate about assisting patients to achieve a life worth living.  The Melbourne Clinic offers frequent in-service training and generously supports the attendance of external professional development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordination of Day Program Intake - triage, assessment and supervision of assessment staff
  • Coordination of patient flow and continuum of care
  • Promotion of Day Program therapeutic groups and referrals
  • Assess and if required, adapt patient care and organisation priorities to a changing patient and program environment
  • Contribute to the direction of the Day Program within the established policies and or systems, including provisions of patient care
Local Work Environment
The Melbourne Clinic offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of mental health conditions.  The Day Program is an outpatient based program with a variety of trauma informed group therapies targeting various diagnosis.  Current therapy programs include, DBT, ACT, CBT and Mindful-based groups.  The site is based within the diverse inner city suburb of Richmond and is surrounded by cafes, gyms and other social and cultural services.  Onsite parking is offered at a reduced fee of $5.00 per day, alternatively, free time-limited on-street parking can be found.
Selection Criteria
  • Appropriate qualifications in Psychology,  Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing with a minimum of 5 years’ experience
  • Registration with AHPRA, AASW or relevant governing body as appropriate for discipline qualification
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills
  • Knowledge of bio-psycho-social assessment and formulation
  • Demonstrated patient centred and family inclusive practice values
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Motivation to learn and engage in professional development
  • Ability to practice within appropriate boundaries and seek help and support as required.
