Northern Beaches Hospital is looking to employ a Catering Menu Monitor/Diet Aide to join our busy food services department. You will work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment that strives to deliver outstanding healthcare to our patients. We are looking for both full time and part time availability!

Our team works together to provide safe and clinically appropriate nutrition from food, beverages and specialised nutrition products to hospital patients.
 
As a Catering Menu Monitor/Diet Aide your responsibilities will include:
  • Selection and collation of patient meals and printing relevant reports
  • Checking accuracy of special dietary requirements for patient meals
  • Participating in tray-line services, in accordance with our policies, procedures and standards
  • Check accuracy of meal trolleys and late meal requirements
  • Liaising directly with patients and clinical staff including dietitians, speech pathologists and nursing as well as all food services staff
Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 state-of-the-art theatres including cardiac catheter labs, world-class education centre, doctors lounge and excellent staff facilities including café and car parking. 
 
Selection Criteria:
  • Qualification: Certificate 4 Allied Health Assistance Nutrition and Dietetics 
  • Previous Food Service experience with a minimum 6 months working in a similar role in a healthcare facility (desirable)
  • Ability to liaise effectively with food services staff, patients, doctors, nursing staff, clinical dietitians and speech pathologists
  • Understanding of the importance in compliance with hospital policies related to the rights of staff privacy and patient confidentiality
  • Sound understanding of food, nutrition, cultural and dietary requirements
  • Previous experience with an electronic menu management system (desirable)
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook with a comprehensive understanding of computer-based technologies to manipulate, create, store and retrieve information to manage information and communicate with others.
  • Strong time management skills and initiative
  • Excellent communication skills oral and written
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills with the ability to resolve minor problems relating to immediate work tasks
