About the role

Brisbane Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join our education team on a part time basis. You will play a key role within a supportive team in ensuring high levels of patient care is provided.

Brisbane Private is a 181-bed acute and rehabilitation hospital with 17 operating theatres conveniently located above the Roma Street Parklands. Specialties include neurosurgery, orthopaedics, spinal, plastics, urology, ENT, Rehabilitation and general surgery and delivery of Brisbane’s leading private drug and alcohol programs from Damascus Health Services. 

As a Clinical Nurse Educator – ICU portfolio, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of education programs for ICU nursing staff, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practice, organisational priorities, and critical care standards.
  • Coordinate orientation, onboarding, and competency assessment programs for new and existing ICU staff, supporting safe and effective clinical practice.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development through bedside teaching, simulation training, clinical coaching, and formal education sessions.
  • Monitor compliance with mandatory training, credentialing requirements, and critical care competencies, maintaining accurate education records and reporting outcomes.
  • Support quality improvement, patient safety, and accreditation activities by translating clinical evidence into practice and contributing to policy, guideline, and protocol development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, universities, and clinical leaders to foster a culture of learning, support research and innovation, and develop future critical care nursing leaders
  • Manage the MOCK Code and ALS/PALS/BLS program for the hospital
  • From time to time support other education priorities in the hospital

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator – desirable  
  • Demonstrated recent experience (minimum 5 years) working in ICU as CN or higher – essential
  • Clinical facilitation and mentorship experience – desirable
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent – essential
  • Current Registration (no restriction) with AHPRA – essential
  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE) – ideal or willing to complete
  • Knowledge of ACQSHC National standards
  • Demonstrated experience in eLearning platforms – ideal
  • Knowledge of adult learning practises and contemporary education practises – ideal
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office
  • Self-motivated and proven ability to work as part of a high functioning team
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, proactive, motivated and customer focused
