Nurse Unit Manager
John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to join our team in our Emergency department. You will play a key role within a supportive team to ensure our patients have a great experience during their care.
About us
John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north west of Melbourne. With 186 registered beds, a 12 cubicle Emergency Department, 4 operating theatres, 12 bed critical care complex and busy Day Procedure Unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.
As an emergency department Nurse Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include:
· Providing leadership and direction to the Emergency department team
· Providing clinical operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management
· Coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based
· Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family centred care in a team focused environment
· Providing guidance, mentoring and support to your team
· Be accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources
· Undertaking direct patient care, as required
· Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
Essential Criteria:
· Current Registration with AHPRA
· Working with Children check
· Previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
· Post Graduate qualification in critical care and experience in a critical care setting
· A strong commitment to developing in a management role
· A management degree or working towards (desirable)
· Demonstrated HR management experience
· Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
· High degree of computer literacy including MS office and various data bases
· Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
