Prince of Wales Private Hospital are seeking a highly passionate, dynamic and engaging Midwifery Unit Manager on a permanent full time basis for our Birth Suite, to join our amazing team of highly trained midwives and nurses.

Prince of Wales Private Hospital is a leading high-level tertiary healthcare facility that specialises in acute surgical and maternity services. The hospital is independently recognised by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality Healthcare for clinical safety and service excellence, and is renowned for achieving outstanding patient outcomes.

Our newly refurbished Maternity Unit consists of 6 Birth Suite rooms with 1 Assessment room.  There are 25 spacious Postnatal suites, including 9 Special Care Nursery cots. Prince of Wales Private offers a private obstetric model, working collaboratively with our highly skilled midwives and nurses.

Our operating theatres consist of 11 theatres and 1 endoscopy suite which provides full elective sessions 6 days per week, including 24hour on call coverage. Prince of Wales Private Hospital performs an average of 24,000 surgical cases per year. The case mix includes cardiothoracic, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Reconstructive plastic surgery, general surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat and vascular surgery.

Our location is unique. You’ll find us at Randwick, where we share a precinct with three other hospitals; Sydney Children’s Hospital, the Royal Hospital for Women and the Prince of Wales (public).

As a Nursing Unit Manager your responsibilities will include:

·         Providing operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management

·         Coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based

·         Ensuring the delivery of excellent patient and family centred care in a team focused environment

·         Providing guidance, mentoring and support to your team

·         Being accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources

·         Undertaking direct patient care, as required

·         Ensuring compliance with ACQSHC National standards

Essential Criteria:

·         Current Registration with AHPRA

·         Registered Nurse with at least 5 years’ experience

·         Demonstrated management experience

·         Proven experience in building and leading high performing teams with a service excellence approach

·         Demonstrated ability to foster positive working relations with a wide range of diverse stakeholders

·         Demonstrate a good knowledge base in labour management

·         Understand the requirements of private health funding

·         Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills including advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

·         A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care

·         High degree of computer literacy including MS office and various data bases

·         Ability to work cohesively within a team environment

Desirable Criteria:

·         Tertiary post graduate qualifications in a relevant Nursing specialty

·         A demonstrated understanding of Work, Health and Safety legislation.

·         A demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality improvement, change management, models of care, evidence based practice and practise development.

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant nursing experience against the current nursing Enterprise Agreement the "Healthscope - NSWNMA / AMNF - Nurses and Midwives Agreement – NUM classification starting from $68.87 to $74.06 per hour.
