An exciting opportunity has opened for an Occupational Therapist seeking permanent part-time employment at The Hills Private Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team across a range of rehabilitation specialties, including orthopaedic, neurological, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. Ideal applicants will be available to work a minimum of 45 hours per fortnight.

About the Role: 
This role will deliver exceptional Occupational Therapy services to maximise patient’s functional recovery and independence and provide an industry leading patient experience. You will provide excellent standard of evidence based and person-centred Occupational Therapy services by establishing treatment plans, assessing and monitoring treatment plans, assessing environmental needs and identifying (and where relevant organising) equipment needs. Advocates for and involves patients, their families and significant others to participate in care, goal setting, discharge planning and preparation for home care.

The Hills Private Hospital is situated at Baulkham Hills, northwest of Sydney. It is an accredited 111 patient-bed hospital that cares for adults experiencing functional disorders. Our dedicated areas of care include rehabilitation and mental health. Our mental health unit contributes to the provision of a multidisciplinary service catering for the various stages of patient care from inpatient to day programs.

Our team of highly skilled healthcare professionals comprise of accredited private specialists, health professionals and nursing staff, all who endeavour to contribute to the provision of the highest standard of care to our patients.

From the moment a patient enters our hospital, they will be treated with respect and dignity whilst receiving the best possible care.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and treatment of patients to facilitate independence in ADL and quality of life
  • Discharge planning including home visits, provision of aids/modifications, and referral to other services in the community as required Referral of patients to groups or other disciplines within the hospital
  • Attendance / feedback of information at case conference and family conference
  • Communicate with program coordinator regarding funding/length of stay issues and referral to outpatient therapy
  • Liaise with other team members regarding patient care and therapy time tabling
  • Documentation of OT intervention + assistive device / home modification prescription and completion of case management plan and discharge summary

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and eligibility to join AAOT
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current Registration with AHPRA Neurological Rehabilitation experience preferred
  • Sound clinical judgement and clinical reasoning skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication & exceptional customer service skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Superior time management and organisational skills Current unrestricted driver’s licence
