Paediatric/Emergency Medicine SRMO (2026 Clinical Year)

Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs and four procedure rooms and a state of the art education and interactive SIM centre.

 Your Role

6 Months in Emergency Medicine

The Emergency Medicine - Unaccredited Trainee will perform the initial assessment of the patient in the emergency department, coordinate and facilitate diagnosis, and management early appropriate patient care. You will manage a wide range of clinical presentations in adults, children and neonates and provide medical care consistent with your level of experience under direction and supervision of senior staff.

6 Months Paediatrics

Your Role

You will assist in the provision of clinical services for children up to 16 years of age in the Paediatric Ward, Ambulatory Clinics, Maternity and Delivery Suite, Special Care Nursery and to relevant patients presenting via the Emergency Department. This includes acute presentations / births, sub-acute reviews and chronic care patients.  In this role you will provide clinical assessments, management advice, care of emergency admissions and work with inpatients as required and directed; perform any necessary operative procedures required for the care and treatment of such patients and the arrangement of patient admission and discharge processes.  

Your Capabilities

To be successful in this role you will meet the following Selection Criteria:

  • Hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and be registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner for a minimum of two years with progress towards career goals in Paediatrics
  • Demonstrated clinical competency and an ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management and evidence of sound working knowledge of legal and ethical obligations governing medical practice
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting as part of a multidisciplinary team

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary relevant to your clinical experience ranging from $98, 470 – $121,074 per annum
