About the Role:
The successful candidate will be a senior clinician who can demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills within perioperative services and has a proven ability to achieve the best outcome for patients and confidently make business decisions that align with private health care funding arrangements. Working autonomously the successful candidate must be able to present confidently and competently when liaising with various stakeholders across the hospital.

Darwin Private Hospital is the only provider of private hospital services in the Northern Territory. As part of the Healthscope Group of Hospitals, it is a licenced 122 bed hospital providing a broad range of multiday and day surgery including, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Plastic and Reconstructive, Urology, Gastroenterology and ENT and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. In February 2021, a purpose built 18 bed inpatient Mental Health & AoD Unit, The Darwin Clinic, opened a new service for patients in the Northern Territory. It also incorporates a dedicated Day Rehabilitation Program.
Our world-class private hospital attracts patients from across the greater Northern Territory, Western Australia, remote aboriginal communities and even offshore. We are co-located with Royal Darwin Hospital and partner in delivering specialised care to patients from across the top end of Australia.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordination and allocation of staff
- Understanding of legislative requirements, ACORN and Sterilisation standards
- Knowledge of accreditation processes and Quality/Risk management
- Ensure workplace health and safety guidelines and policies are met
- Manage Budgets and attainment of budgetary targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Essential Criteria:
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- High level clinical skills in the perioperative setting
- Proven clinical leadership and management within the Peri-Operative service
- A commitment to quality and clinical improvement
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience
- Post graduate qualification in Peri-Operative Nursing or working towards is desirable (not mandatory)
