About the role: 

Hunter Valley Private Hospital (Shortland) is seeking an experienced Preadmission Nurse with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care to join our established nursing team.

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is located on the fringe of Newcastle and is close to the Pacific Motorway, vineyards and university. We are an independent 83 bed facility with a 5-theatre Operating Suite providing medical (geriatric and palliation), rehabilitation, hydrotherapy and surgical services. Key Responsibilities:

  •   Assess, evaluate, plan and manage timely transfers, in collaboration with Nurse Unit Managers, patients, their families and the interdisciplinary team

  • Confirm health fund coverage and coordinate bed availability

  • Coordinate patients’ admission needs in collaboration with the referring facility, interdisciplinary team, the patient and their family


Essential Criteria:

  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • A minimum 3 years' experience working in a ward setting
  • Strong clinical decision-making, excellent communication and proficiency in health administration systems
  • Collaborating with the Nurse Unit Manager to foster a strong collaborative team environment
  • Minimum contracted hours of 60.8 hours
  • Working with Children Check

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF- NSW Nurse and Midwives' -Enterprise Agreement 2022, a salary ranging from $40.26 - $56.54 per hour
