Art Therapist – Living Well Program

Are you an Art Therapist that has excellent interpersonal and therapeutic skills and a passion for delivering high quality care for patients living with a mental illness?

The Melbourne Clinic, situated in Richmond, Victoria, is Australia’s largest private mental health service, providing a variety of recovery focussed inpatient and outpatient programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of mental health conditions. The Melbourne Clinic offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of mental health conditions. Programs include The Living Well Program- general inpatients, the Professorial Mood Disorders Unit (associated with The University of Melbourne), Older Persons’ Psychiatry, Eating Disorders Unit, Drug and Alcohol Detoxification and Rehabilitation and the Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit. A Community Outreach Program and a wide range of Day Programs are also available to support people in the community.

The Melbourne Clinic (TMC) is seeking a mental health clinician to join our team within the OCD program. Linked with local and international research programs and designed to help individuals with OCD and related disorders gain the skills and knowledge they need to deal with their symptoms, our OCD program treats clients via a dedicated 2 to 3 week inpatient program.  You will work closely with allied health, nursing, and medical staff to deliver a high-quality evidence based therapy program.

We are offering a part-time temporary maternity leave role (0.7 to 0.8 EFT)

As an Art Therapist (Grade 1 or 2) your responsibilities will include:  

·               To create an inclusive, supportive and learning group environment for patients to explore their interest and abilities in creative activities, facilitating such groups within various inpatient and day programs

·               To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team/s in the care planning and management of participants in various inpatient programs and day programs

·               Attending relevant multidisciplinary team meetings.

·               Participating in the development and review of programs as necessary.

·               Participating in the development and evaluation of policies as appropriate.

·               Contributing to quality improvement and research projects.

Essential Criteria:

·          Masters or Doctoral post-graduate qualification in Art Therapy

·          Registration with ANZACATA for Art Therapists

·          Experience with an inpatient mental health client population

·          Experience in group facilitation

·          Experience in delivering Art Therapy aligned with at least one therapeutic modality is required, with more than one desirable (e.g., DBT, ACT, CBT)

·          Experience with a trauma-informed approach and offering recovery-focused care

·          Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills

·          Ability to balance working autonomously and across a multidisciplinary team

·          Commitment to ongoing education and provision of evidence-based practice

·          Commitment to upholding high standards of ethical practice

·          Current Working with Children Check

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant experience factored against the relevant Enterprise Agreement, being the Healthscope – Victoria – Allied Health Professionals – Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026  (Grade 2 salaries range between $45.65 and $54.93 per hour), which are exclusive of both additional higher qualifications allowance and superannuation.
