 About this role: 

Sydney Southwest Private Hospital is seeking a motivated and Billing and Estimations Officer to join our team on a part-time permanent basis.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for supporting patient billing processes, providing accurate financial estimations, and ensuring outstanding customer service to patients and internal stakeholders.

Working alongside a large network of accredited private specialists, Sydney Southwest Private Hospital is recognised for delivering comprehensive medical and surgical services, including Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), General and Plastic Surgery, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, Gynaecology, Urology, Mental Health Service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial estimates for self-funded patients and patients serving waiting periods.
  • Respond to patient billing enquiries and facilitate timely resolutions.
  • Manage banking processes and debtor accounts.
  • Process receipts for payments, excluding health fund inpatient payments (e.g. medicolegal accounts, lease payments, and other miscellaneous receipts).
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing of third-party invoices.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of private health fund contracts and billing requirements.
  • Provide billing-related support and guidance to the administration team.


Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar billing, accounts, or finance administration role.
  • Knowledge of private health fund contracts and claiming processes (desirable).
  • Sound knowledge of patient management systems such as WebPAS or equivalent.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
