Norwest Private Hospital is a 277 bed high acuity facility located in Sydney’s rapidly developing North West corridor and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. Key to the Hospital’s success is a highly skilled and expert team of staff. Norwest Private Hospital provides care to patients within the specialities of orthopaedics, cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, general surgery and otolaryngology including paediatrics, urology, Upper GIT, colorectal, gynaecology and obstetrics. We also accommodate medical patients. These specialties are supported with 13 Operating suites, 19 bed ICU, 20 bed CCU, Cardiac Angiography unit, Endoscopy unit, 7 bed Special Care Nursery and an Emergency Department.
 
We are seeking a skilled Medical Practitioner, with excellent acute clinical skills for Ward CMO Night Duty shifts. We have regular night shifts available on Saturdays, Sundays and every 2nd Monday.  We are looking for CMO’s to take 1, 2 or 3 of these shifts on an ongoing basis.
The Ward CMO roster runs on 12hr shifts spanning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
 
This is a great opportunity to use your clinical assessment and diagnostic skills within a supportive, collegial environment, with onsite support available to the Ward CMO from both the ICU CMO and the Emergency Department doctors.  On busier nights a second ward CMO is also rostered.
 
You will be responsible for provision of care in the 2 surgical wards, orthopaedics, medical and obstetrics/gynaecology unit, in liaison with the Hospital’s credentialed Visiting Medical Practitioners. You must be able to cannulate and have advanced adult resuscitation skills.
 
Essential Criteria:
  • Current Medical Practitioner AHPRA Registration (with no supervision requirements)
  • Experienced in acute care setting (adults and paediatrics) (PGY3 and above)
  • Current Advanced Life Support certification
  • Ability to identify deteriorating patients and provide immediate resuscitation
  • Team player with excellent clinical assessment and communication skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and organisational skills
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Medical indemnity insurance
  • Current Paediatric Advanced Life Support certification (or the ability to complete)
