  • Mental Health Intake Officer – Registered Nurse
  • (Permanent Part time Position 0.8 EFT)

Northpark Private Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurse/Social Worker/Psychologist with exceptional interpersonal skills to join the Mental Health Intake team. This motivated and dynamic individual will work alongside our Psychiatrists, Allied Health clinicians, Nursing team and external referrers to assist patients in accessing Day Program and inpatient Mental Health services.
 
Our Mental Health Unit consists of 2 units with 23 beds in each. We offer Inpatient services and 10 different Day Patient streams. Programs include general psychiatry and specialties such as anxiety and depression, older adult psychiatry and Parent and Infant Services. Therapeutic streams include CBT, ACT and addictive behavior management.

About the role:
 
As an Intake officer you will be a pivotal member of the clinical team, working closely with the Mental Health Therapy team, Allied Health Manager, Nurse Unit Manager’s and Director of Nursing. You will have a great opportunity to take ownership of our Day Programs services and assist in the delivery of mental health nursing assessment and admission coordination within the inpatient setting.
 
 
 
 
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Hold AHPRA registration
  • Have experience in the private hospital setting and health insurance finding agreements
  • Proficient understanding of mental health issues, assessment and risk management
  • An interest and experience in mental health assessment essential
  • Knowledge of therapeutic modalities for MH conditions
 
Skills/Experience/Competencies:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Experience in intake duties including; prompt attention to referrals, assessment/triage, and liaising with medical staff.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic modalities
  • Demonstrate a passion for working within a recovery based framework for practice
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • High quality document writing skills
  • Fantastic time management and be a team player
  • Have a personal work ethic of reliability, performance, integrity, balance and honesty
  • Be a team player with the ability to effectively and professionally communicate
  • Ability to build rapport with all team members and work collaboratively through challenges or concerns
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, and the ability to manage conflict to a point of resolution
  • Knowledge of Mental Health KPI’s (desirable) including HoNOS
  • Competence in computer applications – EXCEL, WORD, Outlook
  • Ability to follow instructions and take directions whilst working within Healthscope and Northpark Private Hospital’s Policy and Procedures
