Occupational Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to be part of the friendly, supportive and highly skilled team at National Capital Private Hospital. The successful applicant would primarily be involved in providing Occupational Therapy services to rehabilitation patient, but may also have opportunities to work on the surgical ward, medical ward and critical care. 

National Capital Private Hospital is a modern, progressive acute medical, surgical and rehabilitation hospital of 148 beds located in the southern suburbs of Canberra. The hospital has 8 operating theatres, an angiography suite, an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, day surgery unit, medical/rehabilitation ward and a surgical floor.

The Rehabilitation unit has a mixed caseload covering all aspects of rehabilitation (ie: orthopaedics, neurology, cardiac, respiratory and general deconditioning).  The successful applicant will be performing assessments and therapy in the inpatient setting, as well as discharge planning including home visits and liaison with community agencies.

Essential Criteria

• Current Occupational Therapy registration as recognised by AHPRA.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development

Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrated high quality Occupational Therapy skills within the rehabilitation setting, including assessment, treatment and education to patients. 
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team and liaison with external agencies.
• Demonstrated evidence of evaluation of rehabilitation programs and treatments.
• Ability to work autonomously to provide effective patient centered care 
• Knowledge of discharge planning pathways
