Are you a highly enthusiastic Occupational Therapist seeking a rewarding career with an established Hospital?

John Fawkner Private Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Occupational Therapist to join our team on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave until the end of December 2024 with a possibility of ongoing casual employment.  Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday roster preferred. Happy to discuss work options that suit your lifestyle, with no weekend work!
Ability to work casual shifts at other acute and rehabilitation sites across the Healthscope network in Victoria.

About us

John Fawkner Private Hospital is located in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne.  With 186 registered beds, an emergency department, 5 operating theatres, 12 bed Critical Care Complex and a busy day surgery/endoscopy unit the hospital provides a wide range of services to its community. 

The hospital specialises in orthopaedics, general surgery, general medicine, oncology, cardiology, urology, plastic surgery, ENT and gynaecology.

As an Occupational Therapist, your responsibilities will include: 

  • You will plan, assess, implement and evaluate clinical care in collaboration with patients/families and the multidisciplinary team so as to achieve identified goals and health outcomes.
  • Contribute to the coordination of clinical care whilst working in partnership with the allied health team, nursing and non-clinical staff providing direct and indirect clinical input, direction and guidance
  • Incorporate the provision of education and support to patients and their carer/family for the management of their health recovery, rehabilitation and complex discharge plans
  • Conduct individual assessment and therapy sessions
  • Have strong risk assessment and safety planning skills
  • Commit to an ongoing learning and professional development portfolio to ensure case mix requirements are supported and registration requirements are met.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Acute hospital experience - minimum 2 years post-graduate experience
  • Excellent time management, communication and organisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Highly developed communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork
