System & Process Improvement Manager - Peri-operative Services (6-month Project Role)

This is a fixed-term, 6-month project role established to drive measurable improvements in clinical systems, processes, and quality outcomes across the department. The role is accountable for delivering defined improvement initiatives aligned to patient safety, quality, operational efficiency, and One Healthscope ways of working.

Key deliverables and accountabilities include:

  • Lead targeted system and process improvement initiatives to strengthen evidence-based, person-centred care, translating best practice into standardised, sustainable clinical workflows.
  • Review, redesign, and embed clinical governance processes, ensuring alignment with AHPRA standards, legislative requirements, Healthscope policies, scope of practice, and confidentiality obligations.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and inefficiencies through data review, incident analysis, and clinical audit outcomes, and deliver time-bound quality improvement projects with clear measures of success.
  • Strengthen communication and escalation pathways with VMO partners by improving systems, response processes, and feedback loops to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Improve operational efficiency through process standardisation, supporting the adoption of One Healthscope systems, practices, and behaviours to reduce variation and improve reliability of operational and care delivery.
  • Provide visible project leadership, engaging nursing staff in change initiatives, building capability for continuous improvement, and ensuring improvements are sustainable beyond the project timeframe.

About you:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) preferred or equivalent health sciences / professional qualification and experience.
  • Currently in or have experience in a leadership role in Peri-operative environment (CNC/NUM minimum 2 years)
  • Good understanding of the NSQHSS and the relevance and implication to clinical practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of contemporary clinical risk management strategies
  • Sound MS Office skills and Risk and Quality platforms
  • A passion for quality improvement, mentoring and leadership
  • Proactive change and project management skills
  • Effective and impactful communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Well organised, able to prioritise effectively with a high level of initiative, drive and customer service

    Peninsula Private is currently a 54 bed acute and rehabilitation hospital with 4 brand new, state of the art operating theatres located on the idyllic Redcliffe Peninsula. There is a further refurbishment underway for a further 2 procedure rooms and purpose built reception and discharge area. Specialties at Peninsula Private include orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology and internal medicine and the delivery of leading rehabilitation services and programs on the Brisbane northside.
