About the role
Are you an enthusiastic and experienced Post Anaesthetic Recovery Unit (PACU) Nurse looking for a new position?
Join the team at Sunnybank Private Hospital and make a difference when it matters most. Use your clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassionate care to support patients through their immediate post-operative recovery in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Shift times for this role vary between 0630am-9pm across Monday to Friday with on call and opportunities for occasional weekend shifts are available to support service requirements.

Our perioperative Services Department features 7 operating theatres and 2 procedure rooms, supporting a diverse range of specialties including Orthopaedics, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), Plastic Surgery, Urology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, and Endoscopy.

Key responsibilities:
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients recovering from anaesthesia and surgery
- Conduct comprehensive post-operative assessments, including airway, breathing, circulation, neurological status, pain and surgical site monitoring
- Recognise and respond promptly to patient deterioration and post-operative complications.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other clinical observations
- Administer medications, including analgesia, antiemetics, and other prescribed medications.
- Manage acute pain and implement pain management strategies in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain patency and provide respiratory support as required
- Communicate effectively with anaesthetists, surgeons, ward staff and other members o the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain compliance with the national safety and quality health service (NSQHS) standards and hospital policies.
Essential Criteria:
Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent
Current Registration with APHRA
Minimum 2 years post graduate experience in PACU
Commitment to Quality Patient Care
Relevant Post Graduate qualification
Sound clinical decision making and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Works well independently and within a team
Training on both Anaesthetics and PACU is highly desirable

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant nursing experience against the current nursing Enterprise Agreement the "Healthscope - QLDNMA / AMNF - Nurses and Midwives Agreement – RN classification starting from $39.66 - $52.97 per hour.
