An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our dynamic Allied Health team at Knox Private Hospital. This is a Grade 2 Permanent Part-time (EFT 0.8) role that involves a varied clinical caseload, providing Speech Pathology services at the Knox Private, Ringwood Private and Bellbird Private Hospitals. The successful candidate will possess the leadership skills required to support junior staff, have a commitment to quality, patient centred care and contribute to the development of the allied health team. This position is an integral part of an energetic Speech Pathology Department which has strong frameworks of professional development and continuous quality improvement.
 
As a Speech Pathologist your responsibilities will include:
  • Provision of acute Speech Pathology services to Knox, Bellbird and Ringwood Private Hospitals.
  • Knowledge and experience in dysphagia and communication assessment in adult populations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in caseload management, especially across multiple sites.
  • Provision of Speech Pathology service our Intensive Care Unit, including tracheostomy management and care.
  • Competence in conducting Video Fluoroscopy.
  • Ongoing professional development.
  • Ongoing staff education and student supervision.
 
Knox Private Hospital is the largest private hospital in the eastern and south eastern corridor of Melbourne. We operate 11 theatres, a 24 hour Emergency Department, an on-site medical team, a 10 bed Intensive Care Unit, a 10 bed Coronary Care Unit and a Day Procedure Unit. We offer a broad range of acute services, with over 25 speciality areas and are leaders in cardiac and general surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, orthopaedics, urology, plastics and vascular surgery.

Selection Criteria:
  • A degree in Speech Pathology
  • Previous acute hospital experience
  • Eligibility for membership to Speech Pathology Australia
  • Video fluoroscopy and tracheostomy management experience
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent team work and leadership skills
  • Commitment to professional development
If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant experience against the current Healthscope - Victoria - Health Professionals- Enterpise Agement 2015 - 2019, a salary ranging from $39.17 - $47.13 per hour.
