The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised and motivated Ward Clerk to join our dynamic Acacia (Surgical A Ward) team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the centre of a busy environment and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly. As the first point of contact for patients, families, Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) and staff, you will play a pivotal role in creating positive experiences while supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of a thriving surgical ward.

You will be a key member of the Acacia team, ensuring information flows effectively, priorities are coordinated and patients experience seamless care throughout their hospital journey.

Acacia (Surgical A Ward) provides care across a diverse range of specialties including:

• General Surgery
• Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery
• Colorectal Surgery
• Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery
• Breast Surgery
• Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
• ENT Surgery
• Complex Surgical Services

The ward plays a key role in supporting Norwest Private Hospital's recognised Centre of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, reflecting our commitment to excellence in surgical care, multidisciplinary collaboration and outstanding patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) and staff.
• Coordinate ward communications and administrative processes to support the efficient operation of the ward.
• Provide administrative support to nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage competing priorities in a busy environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
• Support a positive patient experience through excellent communication and service.
• Contribute to a collaborative, organised and high-performing team culture.

Essential Criteria

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, adaptable and accountable with a positive approach to work.
• High attention to detail and strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Commitment to exceptional customer service and patient experience.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria

• Previous ward clerk or healthcare administration experience.
• Experience in a hospital or acute healthcare environment.
• Understanding of hospital workflows and multidisciplinary teams.
