A fantastic career opportunity for a WHS Coordinator to establish and manage service delivery for a new 488 bed hospital in Sydney.

Northern Beaches Hospital will be a fully licensed private hospital, providing care to public and private patients from an outstanding new facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors, allied health and non-clinical staff.
We are looking for a dedicated WHS professional who would like to join a great team and contribute to the development and establishment of systems and compliance prior to the hospital opening in October 2018.
The primary focus of this role is to promote a safety culture, achieve compliance with Work Health and Safety legislative requirements and regulations, identified key performance indicators, hazard / injury prevention and reporting. Responsibilities include conducting investigations, data analysis, and risk assessments.     
Your leadership will be critical to the success of NBH with your main objectives including:  
  • Implementing measures to maintain the safety of staff and visitors
  • Developing and implementing a hospital wide WH&S program that promotes an integrated system of WH&S risk management and supports the strategic direction of the hospital
  • Ensuring compliance by auditing on a regular basis and providing coaching and consulting support when required
  • Assisting department managers to facilitate WHS improvement activities within and between departments
  • Managing and driving effective implementation of the Safety framework and strategy
  • Analysing data, identifying trends and developing programs to close gaps, eliminate risks and build on an existing positive WHS culture  
  • Influencing stakeholders to obtain support for safety, security and compliance programs  
  • Managing and establishing auditing processes
  • Investigating all hazards, assess, and implement management strategies to eliminate or reduce
  • Working in collaboration with the Return to Work Coordinator  
To be successful in this role, you will possess: 
  • Relevant qualification in WHS/HSE, First Aid Certificate, and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Auditing qualifications would also be of benefit.
  • Prior experience working in a work health & safety role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice
  • Proven success in leading and influencing a positive WHS culture  
  • Experience in the implementation of Workplace Health and Safety management systems to meet the requirements of legislation and best practice
  • Strong skills in interacting with all levels of an organisation and the ability to coach and provide consultative advice
  • Excellent communication, analytical and influencing skills in implementing change around the management of WHS
  • High attention to detail, quality and precision
  • Ability to be inclusive, cooperative, and a team player
  • Exposure to the Hospital/healthcare sector highly desirable
