About the role:
The Emergency Department Admin Team Leader plays an essential role in the efficient management of administrative functions within the Emergency Department. Reporting directly to the Administration Manager, this position will work collaboratively to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service delivery. The Team Leader will oversee the day-to-day functions of the ED Clerical Department, working closely with colleagues to uphold high standards of performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities, Outcomes
· Able to perform, co-ordinate and ensure all Emergency Department registration and admission processes are executed at the highest standard, to support the effective and efficient performance of the department.
· Provide leadership and guidance to the ED Clerical team, ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
· Maintain team rosters with a focus on budgetary requirements, skills mix and compliance with the relevant Enterprise Agreement.
· Liaise with nurse leaders, clinicians and ward staff to ensure administration compliance, for inpatient admissions and medical record compiling.
· Manage escalated matters of a complex nature such as patient eligibility of services, patient feedback and health fund compliance requirements.
· Train and up-skill staff to enable them to confidently and professionally engage with patients, health funds, clinical staff and the community.
· Participate in staff training and development initiatives to ensure ongoing skill enhancement and compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Proactively strive for positive team culture that align with the Healthscope Values – We care, we do, we strive, we’re team.
· Perform day to day operational activities such as OEC/IFCs, admissions and registrations, Medicare billing, receipting etc as needed. Able to be flexible with shifts to ensure the department is staffed 24/7.
· As this role is a shared job role, able to work collaboratively on all matters.
Essential Criteria:
The Emergency Department Team Leader must demonstrate the following requirements:
· Demonstrated experience or ability to learn leading a team in a customer service environment.
· A demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with staff and stakeholders.
· Ability/willingness conflict resolution and problem solve as required.
· Strong commitment to patient service excellence and continuous improvement.
· Professional verbal, written and interpersonal communicator.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion dealing with staff, patients and medical records.

· Moderate technology literacy and a demonstrated understanding of WebPAS and Microsoft programs.
· Understanding of the patient experience and ability to apply empathy during patient and related interactions.
