Counsellor

An exciting opportunity for a Counsellor to work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team at The Hills Private Hospital’s Windsor Road Private Clinic as a motivated and innovative Counsellor has arisen. Both casual and part-time roles are available in both the inpatient and day program settings. Applicants must be flexible, team oriented, and be prepared to hit the ground running.

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated Counsellor to join the Mental Health team at Windsor Road Private Clinic. Working across inpatient and day program services, you will provide individual and group counselling, contribute to therapeutic program delivery, and support patients on their recovery journey.

About us
The Hills Private Hospital is a 111-bed private hospital located in the Hills District of Sydney, consisting of 86 Rehab and 25 mental health beds with an expanding day program. We currently offer inpatient and day programs in general mental health (i.e. mood disorders; drug & alcohol).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of evidence-based Counselling services for adults presenting with a range of psychiatric disorders accessing the inpatient and outpatient therapeutic programs of The Hills Private Hospital (THPH)

  • Provides consultancy to other members of the multidisciplinary team (Level 1 counsellors, Level 2 counsellors and students) and maximise the efficacy of the clinical services through the development of productive and professional relationships with referral sources

  • Identification, development, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic programs and ensuring that they are current and congruent with patient needs

  • Consult with other clinicians to access clinical support where needed, including escalating issues to manager

  •  Support team members including student counsellors to develop their skills and knowledge and enhance their clinical practice through consultation, participation in professional learning activities, and participation in peer review

  • Facilitate student counsellor’s learning and professional development and provide clinical supervision

  • Ensure counsellors are operating within relevant clinical, organisational, ethical and professional boundaries

  • Receiving, managing and triaging referrals from the rehabilitation wards at The Hills Private Hospital

  • Assisting manager with staffing and rostering based on ward occupancy

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant degree qualifications

  • Current full registration with Counselling Governing Bodies

  • Previous experience working on an Inpatient and Day Program Mental Health Unit

  • Experience facilitating group therapy sessions

  • Sound clinical judgement and clinical reasoning skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Superior time management and organisational skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Working With Children Check
