About the role

The Prince of Wales Private Hospital Intensive Care Unit is seeking an experienced Nurse Educator with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to lead the coordination, delivery and facilitation of education programs within the ICU to ensure staff have the capability to provide exceptional, evidence-based nursing care.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Identify educational needs by partnering with the ICU Nurse Unit Manager and Education Team to determine team and individual learning needs.

·         Lead and foster a learning environment by designing, developing and facilitating education packages, providing team and individual coaching and coordinating subject matter experts (external and internal) to deliver training.

·         Orientate new staff members and upskill novice staff members.

·         Demonstrate professional practice as evidence by adhering to AHPRA professional standards, code of ethics and conduct, legislative requirements, Healthscope’s polices and processes, required registration, scope of practice, and patient confidentiality and privacy.

·         Prioritise Healthscope’s patient safety and quality frameworks by identifying areas of improvement, participating in case reviews and clinical audits as required.

·         Acts as a valued member of the inter-disciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care and quality education by providing supervision and teaching to staff and actively contributing to team processes and practices.

·         Maintains a professional and constructive working relationships with our VMO partners, using a customer service mindset, to enable high quality patient outcomes.

·         The Nurse Educator will also facilitate the Advanced Life Support Course (ACCCN) and the Cardiac Advanced Life Support program (in collaboration with the POWH)

Essential Criteria:

·         Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent 

·         Minimum of 4 years’ experience in ICU

·         Current Registration with AHPRA

·         Competency in post-operative cardiothoracic care will be highly regarded

·         Commitment to excellent standards of patient care

·         Compliance with ACQSHC National standards

·         Sound clinical decision making and problem solving skills

·         Excellent communication and customer service skills

·         Works well independently and within a team

·         Good computer skills

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant nursing experience against the current nursing Enterprise Agreement the "Healthscope - NSWNMA / AMNF - Nurses and Midwives Agreement classification starting from $64.30 to $74.25per hour.
