Norwest Private Hospital is seeking an exceptional Clinical Midwife Educator (CME) and Clinical Midwife Specialist (CMS) to join our Women's Health team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a dedicated educator and clinical leader to play a pivotal role in advancing evidence-based midwifery practice while supporting the professional growth of midwives, graduates and students.

Working closely with the Midwife Unit Manager, Senior Nurse Educator and broader Education Team, you will help foster a culture of clinical excellence, innovation and continuous learning across our Birth Unit and Postnatal services.

About Our Women's Health Service

Our Women's Health Unit includes:

• 43-bed Paediatric, Antenatal, Postnatal and Gynaecology Ward
• 7 Birthing Suite rooms
• 7-bed Level 2 Special Care Nursery
• A dedicated multidisciplinary team focused on exceptional maternity outcomes

The Opportunity

As the CME/CMS, you will be instrumental in developing and supporting clinical excellence within the Birth Unit and Postnatal Ward.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and delivering innovative education programs for midwives, graduates and students
• Supporting orientation, onboarding and ongoing professional development of staff
• Providing hands-on clinical teaching, mentoring and bedside support
• Facilitating undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery student placements
• Supporting competency assessment, learning plans and professional development pathways
• Promoting evidence-based practice and contemporary maternity care
• Driving quality improvement initiatives and supporting policy development
• Monitoring compliance with mandatory training requirements
• Collaborating with the wider Norwest Education Team on hospital-wide education and quality programs

About You

You are a highly skilled and motivated midwifery professional who is passionate about education, mentorship and clinical excellence.

Essential Requirements

• Current registration as a Midwife with AHPRA
• Minimum 8 years of clinical midwifery experience
• Minimum 5 years' experience within a Birth Unit setting
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or currently working towards completion
• Demonstrated experience teaching, coaching and supporting students and graduate midwives
• Strong preceptorship and mentoring skills
• Proven ability to develop and deliver education programs
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
• Experience contributing to quality initiatives and policy development
• Intermediate computer literacy

Desirable Qualifications

• Master's degree in Maternal Health, Midwifery, Education or a related discipline
• Academic teaching experience
