Reaching graduation is a significant milestone. At Healthscope, we are here to help you take the next step with an immersive 12-month Graduate Midwifery Program designed for early-career Registered Midwives. As one of Australia’s largest private healthcare providers, we care for communities nationwide through our network of hospitals offering acute, medical, surgical, mental health and rehabilitation services. You will join experienced teams in well-supported hospital environments while you transition into independent practice. 

 

What the Graduate Midwifery Program offers 

Our 12-month program (minimum 30 hours per week, full-time or part-time) is structured to help you build skills and confidence in your first year as a Registered Midwife. 

·         One to three rotations within your graduate stream over the 12-month program 

·         Ongoing employment contract from the start of the program 

·         Supernumerary time at the beginning to ease into independent practice 

·         Dedicated support from experienced professionals at site, state and national levels 

·         State Orientation Days to connect with leaders and fellow graduates 

·         Paid study days, peer networking and mentorship opportunities

What you’ll be doing as a Graduate Midwife 

Providing woman-centred care throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period 

Monitoring maternal and neonatal wellbeing 

Supporting and educating women and their families 

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care 

Advocating for women and delivering safe, evidence-based care 

Developing clinical judgement and confidence in a supported environment 

What we’re looking for & to be eligible, you’ll need 

Evidence of Australian working rights 

Completion of a nursing or midwifery course within the last six months or expected completion at least one month before starting 

Availability for a minimum of 30 hours per week on a rotating roster including AM, PM, nights, weekends and public holidays 

What to prepare for your application 

Your updated resume (mandatory) 

Two recent student clinical placement reports (mandatory) 

Proof of Australian working rights 

If you currently hold a student or similar temporary visa, a brief document outlining your proposed next visa plans
